Service Learning

Service Learning is a key component of Connections Learning Center's overarching goal of creating communities which are safe, inclusionary, and empowered. The Service Learning model allows for students to engage in meaningful projects that benefit their community while also cultivating the development of important personal life skills. Service Learning at CLC allows students to achieve the following: 

• Increased academic engagement and real-world application of learned skills
• Strengthening competencies related to: Empathy, Resilience, and Collaboration
• Fostering Leadership skills and civic responsibility
• Personal Connection to a cause and empowerment

Service Learning Project Overview

The repeatable 6-week project follows a four-stage framework to guide students and facilitator to community focused outcomes.

1. Investigation: Understanding community needs and defining a problem.
2. Design: Planning a realistic and impactful project.
3. Action: Implementing the project and collecting evidence.
4. Reflection: Analyzing outcomes and sharing what was learned.

Service Learning Community Partners

Students and staff work to create positive relationships with community partners in and around the Golden area to build growth and action over the years. So far, we have partnered with: Golden Optimists, BGOLDN, and onsite student council. For the 2026-27 school year, we are also excited to be working with JeffCo Open Space.
